Help for a first time Agriturismo visitor !

My wife and I are planning a trip to Tuscany in '08. We have been to Italy several times and wanted to experience an Agriturismo. We tend to stay in nicer hotels and wonder if there is an "upscale" Agriturismo (if that's not an oxymoron) that anyone has stayed at. What do you suggest Fodorites ?

There are many "upscale" agriturismos, too many to list here. I don't know how "upscale" you want, but I suggest you do a search here or on Slowtrav and you will find plenty of information.

Here'a one agriturismo which I have enjoyed several times - "Le Traverse".
It's right near Pienza. Here is the URL:

I consider this place to be a 4-5 star agriturismo (bathrobes in the room, breakfast customized to your wishes and the hosts are super), but there are far more upscale places to be found.

Here's another - it's not exactly an agriturismo. It's more a luxury county hotel and it's definitely 5 stars! It does have it's own working farmlands and gardens. If your budget can stand it, this place would be fabulous.

It's called the Locanda dell'Amorosa and it's located near Siena. Here's the URL:

Spend time at www.slowtrav.com and read their rental reviews. Many like La Saracina.

Thanks for the recommendation on La Saracina. It looks just like what we're looking for. We stayed at Locanda dell'Amorosa four years ago and loved it.
