HELP - Florence - 3 days, 2 nigths Itirenary

Got 3 days, 2 nights time in Florence... any suggestions on must-see/must do? Also how about budget hotel recommendations close to the sights and train station (need to catch a train to Avignon afterwards). Thanks, Ben

The David by Michelangelo at the Accademia and gelato at Vivoli's. The Duomo, Pitti Palace, Uffizi, Fiesole are second.

For a budget hotel, try Albergo Firenze near the Duomo.

I'd say the Uffizi is not second, but a must do. Yes, most of the art is religious in nature, and for years I couldn't get past the subject.

But no matter what your feelings are about christianity (I am not a christian), seeing examples of so many great artists really shows how art exploded from dogma to rapture.

I'd also put in a word for the Bargello; great sculpture.

Seeing David at the Accademie was the best. Also going up to Fiesole was wonderful view. The church at Santa Croce was nearly as good as David. It's where Michelangelo is buried. Everything is great in Florence. Enjoy!

Fiesole is great, but a MUST is a bus tour that goes to Sienna and San Gimignano (hope i spelled that right, oh well). That way you see the Tuscan hillside as well as these two beautiful hilltowns. It takes a day, approx. 9am to 5pm. They also have tours that do Chianti if you prefer.
