I've have three suggestions for your sojourn in Tuscany... Maybe the most stunning accomodations I've have known... Think that if your purpose is to explore Tuscany, nothing better than a tuscan retreat...
1º At Sinalunga (east tuscany, near Umbria, Arezzo, Siena and Cortona) Locanda Dell'Amorosa http://www.amorosa.it One of the most romantic tuscan sceneries... 2º Citta De Castello (Umbria) Palazzo Terranova http://www.palazzoterranova.com/ 3º Chiusdino Borgo Santo Pietro http://www.borgosantopietro.com/en/ And finally, a bonus one (if you can afford it) 4º Florence Villa San Michele http://www.villasanmichele.com/web/o...an_michele.jsp I have posted the hotels from lower to higher price, but trust me... You won't be wrong if you stay at any of them... Maybe Locanda Dell'Amorosa fits more your budget but don't discard any of the others... Congratulations for your wedding, by the way! |
After spending a week in Tuscany, my vote for a romantic stay is in the Val d'Orcia region.
Check out Villa Cicolina http://www.villacicolina.it/or for a splurge... La Saracina in Pienza http://www.lasaracina.it/ Congrats! |
Do we ever love the Tuscan contryside! Spent 5 days at a agritisimo in the small hilltown of Crete, outside Cortona. It was called Rosa dei Venti owned byk the Micheli family for 5 generations. Totally refurbished and very modern in accommodations, the spectacular views, romantic walks. We took day trips...loved the Crete Senese Drive between Montepulciano and Montalcino, San Giminangno, trip to Siena, and the day spent in Arezzo. I highly recommend you check into this area and the agritisimo.

Just reread my hurriedly written suggestion, without proofreading.... and cringe at the many spelling errors. Sorry, I really can spell and will slow down in the future.

Might I suggest you check Villa Poggiano outside of Montepulciano for a romantic, lovely choice. It's well run and nicely located with beautiful views. We hated to leave!

This summer my husband and I rented a villa near Cortona for a week and loved the area. It was really well located for day trips all over Tuscany and we managed to squeeze in trips to Arezzo, Siena, Montepulciano, Montalcino and Pienza while we were there.
We rented through www.yourtuscany.com as they have a really nice website and a great range of properties. We found Your Tuscany to be really helpful in finding us the right property for our requirements and budget and the house we ended up renting, Casa Grande, was fantastic and excellent value too! |
I haven't read all the replies you've received, so this may already have been suggested.
I highly recommend Daniel @ Vacanza Bella. Go to www.vbella.com and read over his website. He'll find the perfect villa for you. Congratulations! |

Hi, Your plan sounds great, but allthough Florence is not to be missed I would guess that you will be pleased to get out in the country. If you decide to travel around a little, try to visit the northern regions of the GARFAGNANA and LUNIGIANA, the Cinque Terre etc. Loads of info. on http://www.underthetuscansun.co.uk
