Help! Dependable Web Sites for booking hotels not in London
 

Going crazy trying to find hotels and rates for Chester, York &amp; Edinbough -- is there a web site like Quickbook -- that lists all hotels on a city map so one can easily compare location and prices?<BR>Thanks.<BR>Any suggestions for specific hotels in specific cities also welcome. Want to stay in central location (no car).

Try www.smoothhound.com. Go to alphabetized listing of towns and click..always happy with my choices there.

Has anyone used that service? <BR>And xxx, actually I have Fodors 2003 Britain -- they suggest 2 which are so far out one needs a car &amp; the Grosvenor, which has no rooms available even when I checked their own home page; and all 3 are $$$$. Also have Frommers &amp; Eyewitness Great Britain, but neither offer hotel suggestions.

The Chester City Council has an on-line hotel booking service, http://www.roomcheck.co.uk/chester/. I used it in October 2002 to find a room. I stayed at the Abbotsford Court @ &pound;50 for a double B&amp;B. It was an ok place about a 10 minute walk from the train station and about 5 minutes to the city walls.
