HELP!!! Charles De Gaulle Terminal Transfer
I will arrive in CDG with US Airways, I'm assuming in Terminal 1, at 6:55 AM. I would like to purchase a ticket with Air France leaving Terminal 2 at 8:30 AM to Biarritz. Will I have enough time to make the flight?
1. I will only have carry on. 2. Air France will will automatically check me in 30 minutes before flight via email. My boarding pass will be emailed. 3. I realize I will have to use shuttle train between terminals. What do you think? Any and all input is greatly appreciated? ~AT |
This is all ASSUMING you have NO delays whatsoever.. technical or weather or strikes of any kind and that immigration is a breeze.
I don't work well under pressure so I would say absolutely not.. If both tickets had been bought together.. even if it didn't work you would be protected but under these circumstances I'd be very generous with my transfer time to take into account possible upsets. |
I think it is conceivably possible, but unlikely. I don't know how this email thing works when you say they will email you the boarding pass. Don't you have to print it? How will you do that?
YOu will probably have to go to terminal 2F. I think the shuttle goes to terminal 2E and then you have to walk to F, not that it is far, but also you have to go through security again, as well as through passport control when arriving. Is it possible to do all of that within one hour from touchdown? maybe, but if there is a flight a few hours later, I'd book that one, and I wouldn't book this if the ticket is really expensive so you are going to be out a lot of money if you don't make it. If you can buy a ticket that allows you to get on another flight with no penalty if you don't make it, that would be good. |
" If you can buy a ticket that allows you to get on another flight with no penalty if you don't make it, that would be good."
Do these type tickets EXIST (if you never show UP)? |
I found a later flight out of ORLY @ 12:20. I think I can take Air France Bus to Orly for a fee. I think I could make that flight. I think???

I think the 8:30 flight to Biarritz is fine. I arrived at terminal 1 from the U.S. last week -- flight was 45 minutes early and immigration was settled in less than 5 minutes in spite of the simultaneous arrival of a Singapore Airlines A380.

With a 12h20 flight from ORY, I shouldn´t even consider an 08h30 CDG departure. What possible guarantee do you have that your US Air flight will arrive on time?

I hear that security and passport control is easy arriving in Paris. It is a nightmare when catching a connecting flight because you have to go through passport control and security all over again along with everyone else that is departing in Terminal 2. I get it!!! I better be safe than sorry. I'm going with the 12:30 in Orly. Plus, the ticket leaving from Orly is $70 cheaper and the AirFrance Bus is only 19 Eu one way. Thanks for all of your advice. =)

I think you've made a wise decision.

The type of ticket I was talking about was for someone being late, not for never showing up. They were going to show up, just might be past the check-in deadline, right?
|
oh.
|
The difference in ticket price would be enough of a reason for me in the first place.
