help cdg airport to dordogne
help is it possible to go from the airport directly to dordogne area. or do we have to go into the centre of paris.
|
Do you have some sort of means of transportation in mind?
|
we were wanting to take the train.
|
We are taking a train from Paris Australitz (not cdg/roissy) to Brive, and back.
To go from the airport try connecting to Libourne or Bordeaux (bigger city, harder to drive in or out of). I'm just planning my trip now - so I'm NOT an expert. Click on my name. I asked some of the same q's you are asking now. Sorry if I got any of the spellings wrong - I'm on my way to bed... |
Trains to the Dordogne leave from Gare d'Austerlitz. Take the RER B from CDG to St-Michel Notre-Dame. Transfer to the RER C and take it to Gare d'Austerlitz. Fare: 8.20€. Time: under an hour.

Hi M,
See www.voyages-sncf.com for PREMS fares from Roissy (95) - CDG - to Libourne, Bordeaux or Brive la Gaillarde - 22E. ((I)) |
It seems like it would be much quicker to take a train from CDG direct to Libourne then either a train to Sarlat, at the epicenter of the tourist Dordogne or drive there from Libourne
rather than schlepping into Paris to Austerlitz and then taking the much slower and longer route from Austerlitz to Brive There is one CDG-Orleans train a day so if it's timed right take that and then change to the Austerlitz-Dordogne line there (actually at Les Aubrais-Orleans) |
The first direct TGV from CDG to Libourne (and Bordeaux) departs at 13:37. If montrealvic arrives at CDG fairly late in the morning, that would be a good choice. The only direct TGV from CDG to Brive-la-Gaillarde doesn't depart until 19:17.
A correction to my earlier post. Not all trains departing from Paris leave from Gare d'Austerlitz. If you go via Libourne or Bordeaux, you leave from Gare Montparnasse. If you're going somewhere further east, like Brive-la-Gaillarde, you leave from Gare d'Austerlitz. |
You could also take a TGV from CDG to St-Pierre-des-Corps (Tours' mainline station) and switch to trains to Libourne or Bordeaux there if schedules are better
I would try to avoid the transfer in Paris if possible |
thanks everyone. we arrive at 9:40 am on a flight from dallas. I think I would prefer to catch a train from the airport itself.
|
You could also take a TGV from CDG to Paris-Massy TGV station then switched to the about hourly Paris-Montparnasse-Bordeaux TGVs
|
I just cant believe how expensive it is. I was looking at april 29 to from CDG to either avignon or sarlat both rates seem to be around 65 euros. also coming back on may 7 from either avignon or sarlat to cdg i am getting the same fare. Where are the PREM fares.
|
I found a round trip ticket on your dates for 58€ going from Paris to Brive. Only one way was a PREM. I could not find any tickets to go from CDG to Brive. BTW, why is Avignon an alternative if the intent is to go to the Dordogne?
|
The PREM fares are probably long gone.
Are you going to the Dordogne or Provence or both? |
we will be visiting both dordogne and provence. we could start in either sarlat on april 29 or start in avignon.
