Last year I received two 25E charges from my car rental company for providing the police with my identifation. I did not receive any tickets sent by mail from the police.

This past June, I received another 25E notice from my car rental company, and I DID receive a ticket from the police - which I paid online.

Wait - if you receive a ticket from the police, pay it.

Like St Cirq & kerouac indicated - the French are becoming more sophisticated and automated in issuing tickets and perhaps finding you and doing something else if you don't pay. It is not a big expense, IMO - just pay it to be safe when/if you receive the actual police ticket.

Carlux, I found to my displeasure (my very first radar ticket) that the radar machines are even modified during road works. On the Autoroute de l'Est one day, I went whizzing along at 98 in a normal 110 zone -- except that there was contruction work and they had reduced the limit to 90.

Wow thanks for the swift and comprehensive replies ( never seen such a quick and full response from so many people on any other forum!)

I will sit tight until I receive a full ticket from the police then... If it comes that is, which knowing my luck it will lol

If I do get one after the 45 days is it possible/worth it to contest paying the higher amount?

Thanks all of you!!!

Yes, if they send it late, it is not your fault. I believe that the postmark is considered to be the date of reference, not the date of the crime! ;-)
