Help -- Carnet gone, almost out of money, how to get to CDG tomorrow morning?

I used up my carnet due to my mis-direction while using the bus today. I'm almost out of cash - I have 30 Euro left and my plane leaves at around 2 pm tomorrow (22 hours from now).

I'm going to walk for the rest of the day if I have to. My question: can I get a ticket to CDG for 8.10 Euro starting from my metro station -- Filles du Calvaire, no. 8? Or do I have to buy a ticket for 1.40 and then another for the RER from Gare du Nord for 8.10?

Also, the Filles du Calvaire station doesn't sell tickets but it's slightly closer than St Sebastian Froissart which does sell tickets. Can I buy the tickets in advance today -- then I'll be assured that I have my airport transport and I can spend the rest of my money with wild abandon.

Yes, you can buy your ticket today, and it covers the entire trip.

And we want a report after you return about how you spent the rest of your 30 euro with wild abandon.

thanks robes...

I switched to Bank of America before I left but it looks like they're holding my check for a week because I no longer have any funds available. I do have a credit card but I'm determined not to use it.

Nikki, the pressure is killing me! I'm going to post for suggestions, thanks all.

As a last resort, don't cabs or shuttles take a credit card? Sorry to hear about your ATM problems, this would be very stressful for me, but you seem to be handling it better than I would.

I'm fairly determined not to use my credit card, too, but I wouldn't skimp my last day in Paris just to avoid using it. Especially when funds are being 'held' back home - just send a payment as soon as you return.

Buy your ticket at any metro station ahead of time. By specifying that you want to get to CDG, the ticket will be a through ticket for the métro and the RER. I think that you could even pay for it with your credit card.

Yes, 8.10€ includes the metro connection. Or you can jump the exit turnstile at CDG -- one of the easiest places to do it.

The last time we went through CDG we had to jump the turnstile because it did not work.

Absolutely, and everyone was jumping the turnstiles.

I have always had a valid ticket (except on strike days when I couldn't buy one) and have had to jump the turnstile at CDG a number of times. Some of the other times, the exit gates have just been open, as they do when they are aware that there is a problem in the system.

Why would you need a ticket on a strike day? Or do the ticket sellers walk out independently of the train drivers and conductors?

Yes, ticket sellers and train drivers are totally different categories of personnel. And actually each metro line has its own unions, so a lot of times just a few of the lines are on strike when the others are operating normally -- and selling tickets! (On striking lines, the turnstiles are deactivated.)

Once again BofA is "protecting" you. (Yeah right! Ripping us off is more like it! Why do I still use them? I have GOT to change banks soon!)

each metro line has its own unions

Probably not, but its own shop. It has led to some interesting strikes. A few years back, when métro personnel were being assaulted fairly frequently, the line on which the assault occured would simply shut down for the rest of the day as a protest and a way of pressuring the authorities to provide more security.
