I too stayed at Le Regent last June. We had the superior room and it actually has 3 large floor-to-ceiling french windows which were very very nice!! The room was clean, with enough closet space, a table and 2 chairs plus another writing desk, it has a refrigerator and a safe and the bathroom was fantastically clean and wonderful with enough towels for use. The size of the room was fine because we can move about with no problems (if this concerns you). The windows are double-glazed so you can't really hear the noise outside. The hotel is located almost at the corner of rue Dauphine and rue Buci with at least 2 metro stations nearby (maybe a 3-minute walk in either). As far as the staff goes, what can I say?? They (and i mean ALL OF THEM)were gracious, efficient and helpful. They start our day with a smile and a "have a nice day" and ended our day with "Bonsoir" and another big smile. I like the location and I know they have another client to add in their long list of clinteles.

If you read Mari's post again, she didn't really have a problem with her room other than wishing it had a bit more freshened up. As for the leak in the other room, if you are there for just a few days, one day or afternoon of being put out can be a problem, Patrick - perhaps there was no water for a while, not being able to bathe, planning to go out for the evening, etc. She never mentioned that it should be fixed in minutes - only severaI phone calls to get a response but the repair may have taken many hours to get attended to. She was just sharing her experiences as you do also.

I am starting to wonder, though, why you constantly recommend the Le Regent - so much so as to be a bit too pushy about it, especially in your recent comments.

Why do I recommend LeRegent? Because I've spent over 16 nights there in total. And of the six or seven hotels I've stayed in in Paris, it is probably the nicest for the price. People ask and I give them my opinion. I didn't realize I was being so pushy about it here, just trying to clarify the response by mari -- actually saying much of the same that you said, xxx.

I was sort of attacked here this past year when I mentioned I was renting the "penthouse suite" at Parc St. Severin this summer and since I loved Le Regent so much why wasn't I staying there? I like variety. The special suite with huge terrace at the Parc St. Severin was great, but at 260 euro in another category altogether. And I've also often mentioned that my favorite was undoubtedly Relais St. Germaine, but again at prices approaching 300 euro, I don't recommend it when someone is looking for a more moderate priced place. It just depends on what people are asking about.

For what it is worth, I have also finally found an apartment to rent for this next summer's trip. After years of looking and not being excited by anything I found on the internet, or not being overwhelmed by the higher cost than a nicer hotel, I have found one I hope I really like.

I'm glad to get my questions answered so quickly. Thanks. However, sorry, I didn't mean for any disagreements with Patrick and others. I was just looking for some honest feedback. Okay, I will book Le Regent!
