Help - Addicted to Fodors Forums...

I am supposed to be finished the second novel in a series but I can't stop from looking at Fodors constantly through the day. Maybe because we leave for Italy in three weeks! I love all these postings and all the helpful advice, friend chat, and differing opinions and points of view. What a great group all of you are. Now if I could just get back to writing my novel...

Is there a 12-step program for people addicted to these travel forums? I can't be the only one... :-)

You are HARDLY the only one:

There is no cure...just accept it!

wanderlust5 Apr 11th, 2005 09:59 AM

Hershey: well, I guess you put me in my place.

cigalechanta Apr 11th, 2005 10:05 AM

And-this is THE place :)

LVSue Apr 11th, 2005 10:12 AM

I was supposed to be done with my bills, etc., finished at Costco and midway through grocery shopping by now, but I'm still here in my jammies! (at least it's PDT)

There is no cure. Take comfort in knowing you are not alone. Speaking for myself, it has nothing to do with whether I do or do not have a trip upcoming. Actually it is worse when I don't have any real travel planned!

I'm supposed to be doing my taxes.

((I))

Patrick Apr 11th, 2005 10:37 AM

Too bad ira, be like me and not make enough to pay taxes!

I was hooked on the US boards as I travel alot in the states and now that I am planning a triumphant return to Europe after a 35 year absence I cannot stop peeking here! The advice here is soooooo much more knowledgeable, friendly, and precise than on the AOL boards. And so fast, too. I really appreciate everybody who has answered my incessant Europe questions with such patience.

Good to know that we all enjoy these forums! Ira, I married a CPA so for me taxes are a breeze! I hate doing all that stuff, I am glad he knows what he is doing and - this just slays me - actually enjoys fiddling with all that numbers stuff. Yuk. :-)

Hello all, well I was gone all last week and busy catching up on unpacking etc. this weekend from being gone,so today I am reading all the Fodor's post. But should be going to the bank and the grocery store and paying bills. Sigh, it is more fun being on Fodors!

Well at least my taxes our filed so no guilt feeling there.

Addicted, guess I am, LOL.

readysetgo Apr 11th, 2005 12:48 PM

I am so far gone on Fodor's I just have to accept it. No 12 step, no turning back now. I'm in too deep! I leave for Rome on the 21st, staying 1 week. This is a "ladies only" trip. yahoo!
Even when I don't have a trip planned, I am here gathering info on destinations I'm dreaming about.

SeaUrchin Apr 11th, 2005 12:51 PM

I like being addicted AND it keeps me off of Ebay for a while.

LoveItaly, trip report soon?

LoveItaly Apr 11th, 2005 01:08 PM

Hi SeaUrchin, yes, yes, the trip report, LOL. I will, tonight or tomorrow. Just as soon as I get the banking done and buy some food and wine!

Just goofing off reading the Fodors post, shame on me!

The trip was fantastic! Report will be posted I promise. Thanks for nagging me, I needed that ;;)

It's an illness, really. I do pretty good for a while, then I relapse right back into it. I think I'm glad there is no cure, though!

After being on here for several months, I've gotten used to some (very) familiar names (You know who you are!) I think I kind of know them, then they'll post something and I'll think to myself "Wow! I never would have thought so-n-so did that!"

Yes. It's an illness.

:)

funny sea urchin, i was thinking maybe i should take up e-bay and see if it would keep me off Fodors!

Marilyn Apr 11th, 2005 03:13 PM

You guys are cracking me up. Not only am I addicted, but I love reading about how addicted other people are as well. How sick is that? :D

LoveItaly Apr 11th, 2005 03:39 PM

Hi Marilyn, does that come under the catagory of "misery loves company"? Lets face it, we are all addicts!

Now, I must do that trip report. I must admit it is more fun reading other travellers reports then typing ones own.

Scarlett Apr 11th, 2005 04:14 PM

I am not addicted. I can stay off of Fodors anytime I want. I just don't want to. You can't make me either!
