HELP! Accomodations for family of 6 in Orvieto

Please help! We have planned a trip for my DH and our 4 children in Italy next June 2013. I thought 8 months would be enough time to find a nice apartment within the town of Orvieto, but it seems like everyone is already booked! I picked Orvieto because we will not have a car and wanted desperately to stay a couple nights in a hilltown that was accessible by train. I have found so many rave reviews, but no one has mentioned how long you need to book in advance. Any advice or help would be so much appreciated! Thanks in advance! Amy

You might get more helpful answers if you are more specific about children's ages and number of beds (crib's?) needed. Are you only interested in apartments, or would a B&B or hotel work, if two of your children are old enough for their own room?

How many nights? What is your budget?

If you don't find anything else, there are several convents/monasteries within the town. San Lodovico is cheap and clean with a midnight curfew. I've stayed there a couple of times. Sometimes they include breakfast and other times they don't.

You might find a B&B/apartment on this list.

Also check out the ones listed as quartiere medieval (there's two pages).

Ohhhh...bobthenavigator....I followed all of your advice 10 years ago on our first trip to Italy and you are still here! What a treat!

Thanks so much to all. I have exhausted all accommodations and came up with 1 available that I booked immediately! I had no idea that the small towns booked up so early! I ended up getting the family apartment at b and b Valentina. It seems to get good reviews and it means that we can still visit Orvieto.
