Villa Franca and Villa Rosa have both gotten good comments on this forum...I'll be staying at Villa Rosa. Good luck!

Here's a fairly recent thread with very detailed info re some alternative hotels. I have bookmarked the Marincanto mentioned in it for future reference.

Well, actually, the original post is not recent at all! But some of the replies are.

Here's the website for the Marincanto: http://www.marincanto.it/

Villa Rosa does not have a pool. We loved it, but if you want something slightly higher end, you could check out Hotel Ancora(www.htlancora.it), which is across the road from Villa Rosa and next door to Sirenuse. It's a sister hotel to Covo dei Saraceni. Friends stayed there last year and loved it.

If you were hoping for Le Sirenuse or San Pietro you won't be happy at Villa Rosa. We love it but it is hardly in the same league as your hotel choices.

Have you tried Punta Regina?
It has great reviews on Tripadvisor.

Agavi is wonderful and resort-like but a little out of town. Villa Franca is in the high end town but easy walking distance and they have a free van to take you up and down the hill too. Villa Franca has a pool and wonderful views, I love this hotel, very classy.

Just a suggestion:
Try the Santa Catarina in Amalfi.
Friends that stayed at Le Sirenuse recommended it to us. We loved it and it is easy to go to Positano on the bus. The pool area is beautiful and the rooms are great. The staff is the best. It also fills up quickly.
Good luck.

We stay at the Hotel California. It is located just across the street (25 meters) from le Sirenuse. You can get a jacuzzi room with a great view for 165 euros.
