Help

My husband and I are looking to get away during my February Break (I am a teacher)
and we are open to ANYTHING!! Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas for us....

I think we did a bit more imformation from you. For starters: Your interests, how much time, where have been previously in Europe, how much you want to spend, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc................

Well with virtually no information as to how long you have, what your budget is, what you're looking for (ie warm/cold, city/country etc.)---no, I have no ideas.

A good way to an idea is to use http://travel.independent.co.uk/europe/eastern/ then look for any item under quote 48 hours in?unquote or quote Somewhere for the weekend unquote. Each page there has 25 items, or which three have those headings.

Ooops, obviously that fourth word should be "need." (I guess I need help, too!)

Fasnacht (Fasching, Karneval) is a winter festival celebrated around Europe but with particular fervor in Germany's Rhineland. Rosenmontag is the big day for parades and general craziness.. It falls on Feb 23 this year, but there are other celebratory events that take place for several days prior as well.

Mainz and Cologne would be good cities to check into if interested.

www.go-today.com often has real cheap packages in winter to various European capitals. It may be a little early for them to show up, but you might get some ideas from their web site.

Welcome to the Fodors forum. I notice this is your first post, so will offer some general advice:

Next time, pick a much more descriptive title, such as "Where to go in Western Europe for a week for less than $1500 from JFK?" or whatever. Just about every single post on here is from someone requesting "help". And fortunately, you have received some here.

Menton (France) has a Lemon Festival the end of February/beginning of March. The weather will be warm. Haven't been to the festival but the area is beautiful.

I found the menton Lemon festival pretty boring.
The area is nice though, but the weather will not be warm, well warmer than in Hamburg, but still chilly.
Feb and March is good time to visit cities or go skiing. My vote goes for:
London if you haven't been there or
Paris or
Florence or
Rome.

My choice for Jan or early Feb is Venice..no tourists, only locals,,and amazing light...the whole city changes and becomes more magical..

Weather never bothers me..but if it does you then forget what I said!

Car - thanks for the update on the Lemon Festival. It's been on my list of things to do for years, although not high priority. It's now dropped way down on the list.

By warm I was comparing it to New York weather in February.
