HELP-10 nights driving in France and Italy
My family of 5 is planning our religious tour in France and Italy this mid February. These our the locations we want to cover starting from FCO Rome and ending our last night in Assisi:
Lanciano, Loretto, Bologna, Venice (3nights stay), Turin, Ars Sur Formans, La Salette, Paray Le Moniel, Nevers, Chateaurous, Lourdes, Apt, Provence, Pisa, Siena, and Assisi.
We appreciate any advice and suggestions as to itinerary, lodgings, eatery, etc.
Thank you for your time and kindness.

Yes, you need to study the points on a map and also the autostrada/autoroute proximity. It is indeed possible to cover a lot of ground fast if you don't mind paying a lot of tolls, but some of the sections on normal roads can really slow you down.

I just plotted this on Googlemaps (though I'm not sure if I picked the correct spot for a few of these since there are multiple towns with these names in France. The route, beginning and ending at Fiumicino, totaled 4,387 km--in 7 days if 3 days are given to Venice. Seems like a lot of driving. Also keep in mind that in February daylight hours will still be short.

Thanks everyone for your advice. We will be cutting out France and concentrate on northern part of Italy. We will end our 10 days road trip with 7 nights in Rome. We'd appreciate any advice on restaurants, lodgings and tips along our route. Thanks again.

We stayed at this convent and had our own bathroom with Breakfast; in February it may still be available. They do have rooms with shared bath. Near the Colosseum.

If you are spending 3 nights in Venice and 7 nights in Rome then why do you want to drive? You can't drive in Venice and you should not attempt to drive in Rome. Take the train. I'm afraid I don't understand your thinking here. If this is a pilgrimage where are you going to go if you stick to the 3 nights in Venice and 7 nights in Rome?
If you ARE going to spend 7 nights in Rome (or even 4), look for an apartment. go to sleepinitaly.com, VRBO.com, perfectplaces.com, romeishome.com.

You're going to concentrate on northern Italy, but spend 3 days in Venice and 7 days in Rome? How is that possible? I really think a map would help you out - it's absolutely essential to travel planning.

Sorry for the confusion, our road trip will be 10 days which includes 3 nights in Venice. At the end of the 10 days, we will be in Rome for additional 7 days. We will not have the car in rome, but will for Venice.
Please give advice as to affordable but nice hotels in Turin, Pisa, Siena and Italy. Thank you for your help.
