help--1 day in madrid-museums are closed-what to do/
 
we have a 1 day layover in madrid, and since it is a monday, the museums are closed. what should we do?anyone know of any english-speaking tours?

Last november, Museo Nacional Reina Sofia was open Monday. They close Tuesdays. Thought you should know in case you care to see Picasso´s Guernica !

Another wonderful museum with prized art and little crowds is the Real Academia de Arte. Maybe it's open.

Too bad to have to miss the Prado, but in addition to the Museo Reina Sofia which does seem to be open monday, closed Tuesday:
Plaza Mayor
Royal Palace
Botanical gardens

This is precisely why Madrid is NOT on my list of favorite places. Try the Royal Palace and the Plaza Mayor.
