Help - Memorial weekend trip - need Monaco and Cannes info
Please help, This is my first vacation in two years!! Going to Cannes for 2 1/2 days and Monaco for 2 1/2 days and I will have a car. I need advice on where to eat(all types and all costs), what to see, which beaches to go to, what to wear (casual or dressy)and the best places to shop. Any other advice is also appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

I went to Monaco and Cannes last September. We stayed in Nice, which was much more reasonable than Monaco or Cannes and also in between the two. Monaco is very expensive!! Cannes is more reasonable but expensive. Nice has prices that are good. IF you can eat in Nice, try to, as it is reasonable. Monaco is very elite and you should bring along dressy clothes if going outside of the main tourist area. Cannes is less formal. All the restaurants are good. I can't remember any one in particular. Do go to the casino's. They all have nice beaches with lots of walking. I love the French Riveria and plan on going back next September!!! Have fun and enjoy!

Kristina - Please consider trying to spend some time in smaller cities rather than Monaco and Cannes, unless all you are looking for is seeing popular (and expensive) tourist spots. Some of the many other places near there like Vence, Biot, and Antibes are generally less expensive, more relaxed, and less crowded than the "name" places. And you might actually see and mingle with average French people, rather than just those who wait on tourists. Regardless, hope your trip is great! -- Steve (the French web sites on this region are very plentiful)
