Hello

My friend and I are thinking about going to a bunch of different cities. We want to stay in youth hostels or in cheap hotels. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to stay in Amsterdamn,Stockholm, Copenhagen. Any information would help. Thanks

There are ton of hostel reviews/recs on the discussion boards at eurotrip.com. Just go to the hostel section of the board.

Sorry I can't help you specifically, since I have not been to those cities.

Our nephew spent six months last year travelling in Europe, and he used the Rough Guide for cheap lodging info. There is a Europe edition as well as single books on most countries.

www.amsterdamhotspots.nl is a great site with a hostel listings section.

Also Let's Go 2002 Amsterdam was a very useful guidebook.

For hostels, I would go to lonelyplanet.com on the thorn tree and go to the country forum you are interested in as it's a backpacking crowd mostly, but they can tell you which hostels to avoid for, maybe bugs, and other things.

I'm not a hostel person, but here's one I've passed by in Amsterdam that looked like a fun place:

Happy Contrails! :)

Stategrl, try posting with a more specific header, something like "Inexpensive lodging in Amsterdam, Stockholm, Copenhagen?" You will probably get a lot more replies.

I was planning a trip to Stockholm that I had to cancel unfortunately but had found some great accomodation with bed-and-breakfast center. Try this link and they will contact you: http://217.13.246.51/BBC/Engelsk/Engelsk.htm or email them at [email protected]

When I inquired I was offered a lovely room with private shower/lavatory + kitchenette for something around $65.

richardab, hey, someone's got to do it. Next week it's your turn. :-D

will you send me the "king of the board" crown?

I thought it was the Immunity Idol. You can't get slammed off the board when you're being helpful to newcomers.

Seriously, someone is going to slam US for hijacking this thread.
