Heating the villa
 

Does anyone have experience to share on heating cost? We have rented a villa in Tuscany next week (11/16/00-cold and rainy) and will be paying for heat in addition to the rental fee. General information will do as I understand that it is predicated on square footage, etc. I want to prepare my travel partners for this expense as some are on a tighter budget than others. <BR>

We rented a villa in later October in Tuscany and had to ask the owners to turn the heat on because the nights were damp and cold. They warned us that they used some kind of fuel that came in containers and that it would be expensive. Bottom line, $90 for 3 days worth of fuel.....and we turned the heat off during the days and kept it low at night. And we turned off the radiators in every room we weren't using. It's expensive. We rented a villa near Sorrento in late Feb/99. It was a moderate size - 3 bedrooms, living room, dining room on two floors (fairly new, though, with double paned windows). At the end of a cold week the heating cost (oil) was $60.00 Canadian ($40 US)

Hi - I should have mentioned that the agent we rented from was able to "guess-timate" the heating cost so we weren't in for any surprises (actually it was much colder than normal so the owner cut us a bit of slack and only charged the original "estimated" amount even though we used more oil). <BR> <BR>Perhaps the agent or owner can give you an idea of the cost?
