Heathrow To South Kensington: Two Couples ... Two Terminals
 

Here is my conundrum. We will be arriving at 1:15 at Heathrow Terminal 5. Our friends Kim and Mary arrive at the same time at Heathrow Terminal 3. I want to use Just Airports to take us to our hotel at South Kensington. Will it be a problem for the driver to pick us up at T5, and the other couple at T3? Of course, two airplanes being on time these days poses another problem. Due to a couple of factors, the Tube will not be an option for us to get into London on this trip. I guess the other choice would be to hire two cars. Thanks.

Already looking forward to your report :). Unfortunately I don't have any advice as to making one transfer work for pickups at two terminals, but we flew into Heathrow twice last month. Both flights were significantly delayed, and we sat on the tarmac for a long time (30-45 minutes) each time as they didn't have jetways ready or crews in place. We were on British Air and they seem to be having major operational issues right now. With you and Tracy flying into T5, I'm guessing you might be on BA too? Truly do not want to be Debbie Downer!! It's just that in two decades of flying through Heathrow with many hiccups along the way, I've never found it to be such a mess. Were it me, I would cringe at the cost but not plan on sharing a transfer right now. Just my two-cents!

TAggie - We are on American (an airline I hate to fly to Europe, but used points) and our friends are on Delta. I'm sure we'll find a way to screw this up, but that's what trip reports are all about.

I hear you on AA and flights across the pond. We're in the process of breaking up with them right now, LOL, because we keep booking on AA and then they cancel the route and we end up on BA. Neither is pleasant but BA is the pits. We're stuck with AA this summer to Greece but we are going to try United for Italy in December since our home airport is Denver. I hate to start all over again trying to get elite status but it's time to move on after years of disappointment with AA for our int. flights. In any case, my fingers are crossed that both of you all have delay-free travel!

PS - those mishaps you reference and write so charmingly about are what make us all remember your trip reports forever <3. We check diesel versus unleaded religiously thanks to you ;)

I would 100% not try to coordinate this. In the before times . . . it was hard enough, but now with both Delta and AA (and every other airline) having operational issues, there is no way to assume they will land close to their scheduled time. Plus because of immigration and baggage staffing problems at LHR - ESPECIALLY at T-5 there will be many points this can go pear shaped.

Plus T-5 and T-3 are not on the same road so it would be a hassle. Just bite the bullet and each of the couples fork over for their own transit. In the scheme of thing the extra ££ would be a drop in the bucket.

How close are you staying to the S. Kens tube station? Unless you have a boat load of luggage the tube might be doable.
