Heathrow to Harwich

Hi, I'm taking a cruise out of Harwich. I will get into Heathrow in the early AM. Anyone know how to get to Harwich by the most direct route--ie with minimal lugging of luggage? Thanks

With difficulty is the simple answer as there is no easy way to to this trip

Easiest would be to take a car service from Heathrow to Liverpool Street station (note Liverpool STREET - not Liverpool) then train to Harwich.

See www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com for booking train tickets about 8-12 weeks in advance and allow at least 4 hours between landing and getting the train

Hi, thanks for the info. I checked the website--there are three stations in Harwich--I assume I want the Harwich Quay?

There are actually two Harwich stations. Harwich International was formerly Harwich Parkeston Quay and both names appear on the train booking websites. Harwich International is the terminal for cruise ships and ferries to Holland and Denmark. The other station is Harwich Town. For some cruises, there is a special direct train to Harwich International.
From Heathrow, the most painless route by tube would be by Piccadilly Line to Hammersmith, District Line to Embankment, then Circle Line to Liverpool Street; there are two changes, but both are on the same platform with no stairs between trains.

You might find it possible to share a minivan or large taxi with fellow travelers. What date are you sailing? We're sailing out of Harwich June 13/09 and would certainly love to arrange shared transport rather than using the underground and train system.
