Heathrow to Charing Cross -- Advice Please
Hello,
I am trying to decide the best way to get from Heathrow to our hotel near Charing Cross Station. I see we could take the Heathrow Express (using the discount ticket for 2 people roundtrip) and end at Paddington Station. From there we could take a taxi or use the underground. If we took the underground, would we face many steps at either Paddington or Charing Cross stations? We will have (hopefully) just one smallish suitcase each. I also see we could just take the Piccadilly line from the airport, get off at Trafalgar Square and walk. Is this a reasonable option? |
Here's your challenge: go find the Trafalgar Square station on the Tube.
Go on. Still waiting. Won't happen. You could take the Piccadilly and walk across the platform to the District Line at Baron's Court (I think). Then get off at Embankment, which is Charing Cross on the District/Circle lines (almost literally - there used to be a free transfer between Embankment and Charing X Tube stations but the latest map doesn't show that anymore; nonetheless, if you leave the Embankment station and look around and up, you'll see the train bridge leading into Charing X). |
Too funny! That is what I get for relying on my (obviously) incorrect memory of the stops on the Piccadilly line.
However, I believe the Embankment station is closed for repairs? |
Embankment is open. Currently the Bakerloo and northern line aren't stopping there but the district and circle line are.

Great! Thank you.
