Heathrow hotel near rental car

We are scheduled to land at Heathrow at about 10pm in late August and would like to stay in a hotel overnight, then pick up a rental car (probably Avis) in the morning. There appear to be a number of hotels along Bath Road and a rental car centre on Northrup.

What would be a good hotel that would be easy to get to from Heathrow, then easy to get to the rental car center in the morning?

If Avis is where they were three years ago, and from the map it looks like they are, it's an easy walk from the Marriott and the Radisson Edwardian. I've done it for the same reason you have. Leave the rest of your party and luggage, if quite a bit, at the hotel, pick up the car then drive back for them.

Your other options would be a taxi (costly) or taking the hotel Hoppa shuttle back to terminal 1,2 or 3 and taking the free rental car shuttle to Avis from the terminal.

Finally, Avis might deliver to your hotel, doesn't hurt to ask.

Of the two hotels I mentioned, I prefer the Marriott. There are others within that same area, I just have no experience with them.

I've stayed at the Post House several times. Mainly because there is a great pub quite near the entrance.

A lot of locals go there as well as FAs.

The Renaissance Heathrow is also close. It's on the opposite side of the road to the Marriott and the Radisson Edwardian and close to Northrup Road (no one in the UK says "on Northrup" when referring to a road) and there hasn't been a Post House hotel at LHR for years, most of them became Holiday Inns.

I'm pretty sure the Post House rastaguy mentioned is now a Holiday Inn. The old post houses were part of he Forte group and sold/converted several years ago.

Pretty much all those hotels are w/I walking distance of the car companies.

@Cathinjoetown, why do you prefer the Marriott?

Sorry to be late answering, just got back from an 11-night eastern Med cruise. Fantastic, but that's another story.

I prefer the Marriott because the rooms are consistently larger, it's very clean and has generally helpful staff. When I was travelling frequently on business, I focused on Marriotts to accumulate points, so that was another factor.
