Heathrow hotel for last night in London

Hey everyone,
Looks like we may want to spend our last night before the flight home back in London and close to Heathrow. (This, instead of trying to make all our connections coming back over from Paris on the same day.)

Can you give me your recommendations on nice, family friendly places to stay near Heathrow. We will be 4 adults, 1 toddler. Something with a grassy area or near a park would be great, so we can get out and enjoy the fresh air before a long day of traveling.

And is there much to do around Heathrow... as I don't think we'll have the energy to go traipsing back into London for sightseeing... probably do something very boring like pack and rest, unless there are other suggestions?

Thanks,
Kat

Stay in Windsor, about 15 minutes from Heathrow.

I agree Wndsor would make a great stop if you have the better part of a day. I believe there's info here on places to stay (try a text search windsor AND hotels). I know there's info on eating (windsor AND restaurants). I even think someone recently raved about a pub meal there. (pubs in windsor)

Here's the official website

Have fun!

If you decide to stay at an airport hotel rather than go to Windsor, take a look at the Novotel Heathrow. It has swimming pool, fitness area, children's play area. But if you exit the hotel and go left on Cherry Lane, you will be walking in a fairly pleasant suburban neighbourhood (West Drayton), with the usual playgrounds and parks. There is a large pub restaurant, whose name I have forgotten, about 500 metres up the road.

Kat, there's a hotel/restaurant in Marlow-on-Thames, not too far from Heathrow, were we went many years ago, called the Compleat Angler. (http://www.compleatangler-hotel.co.uk/). It's right on the Thames, very charming.
Windsor is also nice (perhaps a bit closer) but I don't have any particular recommendations there.

McLaurie and any others who know Windsor... this is something we're considering doing instead of staying at Heathrow.

Any good recommendations for places in Windsor.

Is it a walkable city, as we'll be arriving after several hours on the chunnel and needing some fresh air, then turning around the next morning to get to Heathrow by 9 am.

Thanks for the help!!!!

Windsor is very walkable, kat. You can even walk over to Eton. I haven't stayed overnight there (I have stayed at the Compleat Angler, ironically, but Windsor's better for you). Many people like the Sir Christopher Wren House. Here's a thread that discusses it. I believe the OP in this thread, Len, also did a trip report.
