Nukesafe, Now I know that I don't have to convince myself to "lighten up" and "get over it", I can "get into it" and enjoy it.
Thanks again! Nannette |
Hi Nanette,
I'm not sure which part of the country you'll be visiting, but the Old City in Jerusalem is very special. It's not one particular church or destination, but the whole ambiant of the walled city divided up in districts. OK, I must warn you there are rampant commercialism re:kitche tourist souvenirs. But I'm always fascinated by the fact there are people who live there and all those narrow jerusalem stone streets. Plus Mahane Yehuda maze-like open markets (loved all those spice/pickles/arab pastries)... There are lots of actual historical/ archeological sites. Don't miss Capernaum (Kfar Nahum) up north near Galilee/Kinneret if you have a chance. Or just enjoy a less secular/more modern aspects. Winery tour near Zichron Yaakov, dinner/beach along Tel Aviv and Herzlia. I'm hearing they have a fabulous weather now. |
