scrb11--I have posted above about how we all use our Kindles, but it is worth a mention about how certain apps are worth their weight in gold. We are in love with FlightTrack, and it has a relationship with TripIt.

Among close family members, we have iphones, ipads, and Droids. We can install the FlightTrack app on all.

I also have a TripIt Pro, which then reports to FlightTrack. On an upcoming trip, I have all of my restaurant reservations, locations, even shopping itineraries entered. I have not only printed them out for me but have also sent copies to all concerned parties via email.

Right now, I'm "watching" my daughter fly from Paris to USA on my Droid as I do the zillion holiday errands. She might miss her connecting flight, but FlightTrack will tell her the best alternatives at which gate.

Wow, on my recent European trip I took a rented international cell phone and a couple of print guidebooks I had previously researched to make sure the maps were readable. I checked e-mail at the hotel business centers. I am definitely old-school! It was kind of a relief not to be continuously "connected".

It almost sounds like the GPS option would be most practical. Just pre-enter addresses of places you wish to visit and let her rip.

Doug, Fodors could do an app mark in the books for the famous sites Heck, you could even sell a Fodors GPS version.

The Lonely Planet apps. use GPS.

So does the TripAdvisor app, to list the restaurants and other sites nearest your current location.
