Have you stayed at La Taverne in Uzes?

I am close to booking this but wondered if anyone has stayed there or eaten there? We are interested in staying in an area where we can walk to most things around town ( not luxurious accommodations.) Thanks , CJ

Haven't stayed there ..we had a little stone house for a week and what a lovely area! Do hope you will be there for the fantastic weekend markets ( foodstuffs on Saturday and flowers on Sunday). Have a great time!

Hi, haven't stayed at this particular place either (we too had a little stone cottage 2 weeks ago and I wish I was still there!!!) but Uzes really is lovely. It's small too, so anywhere you go is within easy reach of anywhere else! The tourist board do an English leaflet of a walking tour round the town which we did one evening when it cooled down a little. You can also book the same tour with a local who will walk you round but we preferred to be independant.
We liked all the restaurants in the Place Aux Herbes and the shady plane trees and fountains make this a lovely place for an evening meal or an ice cream/beer during the day.
Wednesday morning is also market day and the little town really comes to life - avoid trying to drive through on this morning!
Pont du Gard is 10 minutes down the road. You can no longer walk on the aqueduct itself (you could a few years back which always surprised me).
Apologies if you know this area already. I'm sitting here in rainy (and cold) England wishing I was back in the sunshine........

If you want general information and tips on Uzes, check recent threads with the "search" function.

(On one, I gave some Uzes restaurant suggestions to your recent correspondent Morgana -- Bistrot de Grezac, for example)

BTW, everything is "in walking-distance" in Uzes, no matter WHERE you stay.

Uzes also has wonderful pottery shops.
