Have you flown on an A330??
 

Several years ago we took US Air to Manchester with connections in Philly. I loved the A330. It's my understanding that Lufthunsa also uses the A330. I'm wondering about their routes?? Have you ever flown on the A330, and if so "from where to where?"

Is there a way to see what type of plane is flying a specific route? Thanks!

I just flew on one today from Amsterdam to Detroit on Northwest Airlines. They also use it on their Detroit-Paris route and there are some other routes in which it is in use.

We flew on the A330 on US Airways from Charlotte to London.

A flight search on Orbitz will indicate the type of aircraft.

Just flew RT PHL-CDG; USAirways uses them on many (all?) of their flights to Europe from PHL.

Flew one in April from Detroit to Amsterdam and back on Northwest. I usually book Northwest online and they indicate the plane when you see the itinerary. It was great to have the video screen in front of me and to choose what I wanted to watch - and when!

Yes, the individual video screen's are a big drawing card. We usually travel with our sons and they really appreciate being able to choose their own movies. To be honest, I too like to select my own!

bmi (British Midland; Star Alliance partner) uses the A330 on its transatlantic routes: Chicago, Dulles, Vegas to Manchester.

mkdiebold: in address put : www.google.com (I happen to have google for my home page, as it's neat to find out so MANY things (:>)!...then in the google space type "whatever" you want to know,...such as A330, or an airline company web site and then look at their fleet etc.
Some like the A330, other are not so sure..There is a 330-200 and 330-300.

The 777 aircraft is nice also, and they too have individual TV's on each seat.
Each individual airline determines their seating configuration, however...such as: Most airlines on the 777 have seating of 3-3-3- (3 on each side)...American Airlines, on the same 777 has 2-5-2, only 2 seats on each side (which I like better).
Well, I'm SURE there are a LOT of people of this forum with MUCH more knowledge of these planes.

Good info Mari5, on the 777. I didn't know they also had individual screens. Like you, I prefer the 2-5-2 arrangement IF I can be one of the 2's. On the other hand, we are a family of 5 so we only disturb one another in that configuration. I also use google a great deal...can't seem to satisfy my curiosity. I did a search for the A330 but couldn't figure out which specific routes used it. I knew some Fodorites would help me out. Thanks!

I said Orbitz, not google; here's how to do it.

Suppose you want to know what aircraft are on flights from say DTW to CDG. Go to www.orbitz.com. Use those two airports as your origin and destination, picking any date you wish. When you get the list of possible flights on various airlines, the type of aircraft is part of the information listed.
