I don't use that dumb fare calculator. Look over the tables at <b>http://www.eurostar.com/dctm/jsp/subhome/detail.jsp?page=fares</b>

Okay, Robespierre. I'll give that a try.

Just went to the Eurostar.com site again, although this time, it asked for my country &amp; language first. This time, the fare came up in USD of:

$600 for a family of 4 - Standard Class
$624 for a family of 4 - First Class
$860 for a family of 4 - First Class

Don't exactly know why it has 2 first class designations, but for $24 more, I'll go with the $624 fare vs. the $600 Standard Class fare.

I just don't understand this site. I don't usually have trouble navigating around sites like this, but this one is weird!

I'm not sure if this is still true, but a year or so ago, I know Eurostar was doing a &quot;premium&quot; first class, but I can't remember quite what they called it. It included being picked up and delivered by private car at both ends and a special lounge to wait in. Maybe that's the second First Class pricing?

Patrick, I don't know whether they're still running the Premium service. It might be only on the London-Paris run, haven't seen it on London-Brussels trains recently. Maybe we're just walking past it though.
The lounges are not reserved for Premium travelers only. Travelers with a business category first class ticket (still cheaper than the Premium category) can use the lounge (travelers with a tourist first class ticket can't). Once you have Carte Blanche status (as we do), you can use the lounge no matter what level of ticket you're traveling on.
Given that Eurostar will be moving from Waterloo to Kings Cross/St. Pancras in 2007 (was supposed to be 2006, I think, but it got pushed back), I wonder what will happen with the Eurostar facilities, including the lounge, at Waterloo.
FYI, for anyone who hasn't traveled on Eurostar for a while, they've dumped the arrival immigration checks at Waterloo. You go through UK immigration in Paris or Brussels before you board the train.

Maybe they should label the coaches Ia, Ib, Ic, and II. And maybe II½.
