Have read the Paris superthreads and Trip advisor but?

I am about to confirm my stay at the Au Royal-Cardinal or the Acacias St Germain Othon Classic. Any personal experiences or any advice.
Greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You're more likely to get responses if you re-post your message with the hotel names in the title.

I'm not familiar with those hotels, but you can also read hotel reviews on www.paris.org/Hotels

To be honest, I'm not crazy about the location of either one of them. The Royal Cardinal is near Jussieu metro which seems a little out-of-the-way for me, and that area is dominated by the university. It's safe and okay, though. The other is on rue de Rennes which is a very busy major street and not that attractive in itself, although that is a little closer to other things I might want to do (cafes, parks, movies, shopping, etc)--walking around St Germain or Luxembourg Gardens. It's very near a metro stop. I'd probably prefer that location for convenience.

HI
How did you choose them?
Are they offered in a trip package?

KG6C Jan 11th, 2005 10:38 AM

Nope, they were not in a package, found then after tons of research, $100 or so. Do you have any suggestions. Thanks

KG,
I stayed at the Acacias 3 years ago,the location is Ok,close to Montparnasse for the restaurants, the street is busy with lots of shops and bakeries and cafes, ask for a room of the interior of the hotel even though when you close the windows of an outside room you can not hear the noise, since then I had stayed at the St Jacques, try to see if you can get a room there, rue des Ecoles and the Observatoire Luxemburg on St. Michel bldg, this year i will be staying in The Montmartre area for a change.
Have a nice trip

These threads usually take on a life of their own, Travelnut. :-)

Stayed at Royal Cardinal a few years ago. I think location is very good, easy walking distance to Left Bank locations, Ile St Louis, and Jussieu is on two Metro lines, so can get places faster. Yes, University area, but plenty of good restos and cafes around, Rue Monge market, rue St Germain...
As for the hotel itself, if you want a place to store your luggage and your body for 8 hrs a day, it's OK. Not luxurious, beds were OK, TV broke and was not fixed, service OK. But, this was NOT a recent stay, so can't be current on my comments. I did stay at Timhotel Jardin des Plantes in that area not too long ago and liked it.
Hope this helps,
Mike
