Another vote for Michael! We were with him for one day last week and he geared the tour towards our interests (not our first time in Paris, so we wanted something different). We went to a cafe in his neighborhood for breakfast, walked to the Opera House (he gave an incredible tour), walked up to a department store (sorry, I can't recall the name) to see amazing views of Paris, had lunch at a cafe nearby, headed out to check out Moulin Rouge and then proceeded to Montmarte (wished we visited the Salvador Dali museum but didn't feel like it at that time)where we visited the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur. Now, at this point, I was tired, so I don't recall the name of the park we visited afterwards in Paris but it was amazing with water fountains (yea, there's a clue). Photography is one of Michael's art form and he took an amazing picture of my family. He was with us from 9 am to 6 pm. He was just lovely and I would hire him again, and again, and again. A big thank you to those who recommended him. We saw a totally different Paris this time around and fell in love with it!

Glad you liked him, but I really can't comprehend why someone has to hire a guide to go to a cafe or a dept store, etc.

It was more than that - while having breakfast and lunch, Michael discussed history, Paris' theater and writing scenes, explained the significance of buildings, layouts, etc. Lots of background and we asked tons of questions. We wanted to experience and get to know Paris in a different way since we've been there before. Of course, Michael will cater to whatever you wish and that's where the beauty of a guide comes in. Spending time in cafes was our choice - we wanted to go on a relaxed pace.

Has anyone used Michael lately? I need a recommendation for a one day crash course in Paris. My sis-in-law has one day free during a business trip and has never been to Paris before so I'm looking for a recommendation for her.
Thanks! |
This thread dated from 2008. You would probably get better answers if you started a new thread, rather than pasting it at the bottom of this old one.

Michael is still touring and does a great crash course. He can be reached at [email protected] . Thsi week and next are very busy, so you may not hear from him right away.
