Haunted London

Hello -

I'm looking for "haunted tours" of London - I went on a smiliar ghost walk in Key West & it was awesome. I've heard of The Original London Walks which have a few ghost walks; has anyone went on these? Are they cheesy or authentic? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Angela: I went on the Original London Walks "Haunted London" tour in late 2000. I enjoyed it a lot and saw quite a bit of London that I probably would not have seen otherwise; however, I didn't see any ghosts. The guide was very knowledgable, too. I'm a big fan of London Walks and would encourage you to try this tour (and others if you are interested).

I set Google to London ghost walks comments and found a good number. Good luck

I have done several of the haunted walking tours of London and I enjoyed them very much. As for what's authentic, that's all a matter of your beliefs. You can choose to accept what you hear as fact, or you can listen for entertainment. I prefer the latter.

thanks for the advice so far. My "authentic" I'm meaning that the stories are somewhat true, related to real events, etc. Nothing made-up. I'll probably go with the Original Walks - looks pretty good!

I did a ghost walk by Original Walks a couple years ago - though in looking at their schedule it looks like either it's not being done anymore or they renamed it to "Haunted London", since the description and meeting place sounds similar.

I have no idea if the stories were truly authentic, but the walk was enjoyable. Not spooky though, if that's what you're looking for.

Hello. I used to work in London and spent one evening/night walking the Jack The Ripper Tour - it departed from Tower Bridge tube station. If it's still running I would thorougly recommend it. Very spooky and it calls at most the sites of the murders, as well as the Ten Bell pub, the walls of which were lined with newspapers of the day. Eerie and gacve a good insight into the lie that was the Victorian "stiff upper lip" attitude in London.

Oh, that tour is still running, in fact there could be a couple hundred people in each group as it's so popular!! But having said that, I also recommend it, great fun.
