Hats: for rain and sun
 

We are looking for replacement hats. <BR>Our travel hats of 6+ years are wearing out. <BR>They have nearly a 4 inch brim and a chin strap to use when it is windy. They are absolutely crushable, foldable and quite rugged. They have served us well from Istanbul to the National Parks. Although made of cotton, we sprayed them with a water repellent to shed rain. Unfortunately, they are no longer produced. <BR>So, fellow travellers, what suggestions can you share about hats? <BR>Thanks much (oh yeah, the kids promised to buy us these replacements for Christmas !!!)

My wife swears by her Seattle Sombrero. <BR>It is has a Goretex liner and a wide brim. She wears it everywhere we go in the mountains -- sun, sleet, snow or rain it seems to do the job. She bought it at a local outdoors store.

My husband and I have had our Tilley's for about 11 years and they are still in very good shape. Like your hats, ours have been folded, stuffed, sat upon and rained upon. they have stood up well to everything.

My hat is a C.C. Filson Co. Made the same way in Seattle since the goldrush. It is waxed cotton and the way it srinks to fit it does not need chinstraps. Around here they can be found at every huntin/fishin store.
