Hi,

A tip to zero out a prepaid card, such as the AAA Travelmoney (or anything that can be used also as a credit card, not just for cash):

Shopping at my local grocery, the cashier used the keypad to punch in the card number as a credit card and then the exact amount to charge to the number. This let me get it down to zero and toss the card.

Cheers.

FYI I used the Travelmoney for my first ever trip to Europe. I won't be for my second; I'll be applying all I've learned from reading the Fodor's boards!

But if you're a beginner and did use one, that's a way to clear out the card.

There's no special tips, it's just like using an ATM at home. It really is the way to go. Any fees will come from your own home bank. They are everywhere.

A 4 digit numerical pin (not 5 and not letters) and hooked to your checking account (not savings) is all you need.

Woops, re-reading my post, it looks like I suggest the Travelmoney for beginners .. no, no, no .. pay attention to suze, janisj, et al for using ATMs in Europe!

If you did happen to use the Travelmoney card, I at least have the tip to how to get the card to zero. Cheers.

a word that is, I think, esegui, means press here on the key board. I have had trouble with that in the past.
