Has anyone used the personal shopper service at Galeries Lafayette?
 

I was reading a blog somewhere where that blogger had used the complimentary personal shopper service offered at Galeries Lafayette in Paris (which is probably offered at the other large department stores too).

I was just wondering if anyone has tried it out and what the experience is like? Is there a minimum budget that is required before they will work with you - I'm sure it is not just limited to designer pieces but would they be willing to work with you if you just wanted to buy a few pieces of lingerie or spend 200 euro instead of 2000 euro?

Also, do you have to book the service beforehand or just go to the customer service desk and request it somehow?

Personal shopping services are for people who don't know what they want and need a stylist or something to make suggestions. I have a male friend who uses them to buy Christmas gifts for his wife, it is a great idea in that situation as a lot of men can't shop. It isn't just for designer pieces, but you don't use one to buy a few pieces of lingerie, you just go to the lingerie dept. It's basically a stylist and you must make an appt at GL, they expect you to buy more than a couple pieces of lingerie (and why would you need a stylist for that), but I don't know how they manage the limits or what they expect, maybe they ask you questions when you try to book it. Because it involves them pulling pieces according to your taste and having them ready for you to try on.

I was planning on getting a dress but that's literally only one item so I wasn't sure if they would be willing to help out for that. And i was already planning on picking up lingerie from GL so i figured maybe throw it all in together if the personal shopper was already looking for stuff for me?

I think all of the department stores provide this service - Galeries Lafayette, Printemps, Bon Marché -- maybe even BHV. I doubt there is a minimum. That is so NOT French.

That link Christina provided indicates they charge 200 euros for the service not counting what you may purchase.
