Has anyone used Otel.com for hotel bookings?
Hi all, I am thinking of booking a hotel in Florence through Otel.com, which has a great rate for the hotel I want, but I have to prepay the total for the hotel when booking.
I don't mind paying it one month in advance but I don't know if this a secure website. Has anyone used it before? If so, how was your experience with it? Many thanks in advance Teresa |

Do a search on here for Otel.com. There are some old posts about it.
Also, when you go to book a room on there is does switch to a secure site. (Look at the URL - it reads HTTPS.) |
Wliwl, I already did that but it seemed only one perso had booked them and they had changed the reservation later...
Thanks anyway, their site has a security apliance for bookings, I am only afraid I might not get the hotel booked!! |
Just for your information.
I used this site to book a hotel in Florence for March 2008. Upon further reading i found the hotel not to be in a very safe side of town with no proper transport links etc. I cancelled the booking online yesterday morning and this morning the full amount was refunded in my credit card acount, no questions asked. Needless to say i was impressed. Lets see if the bookings i made for rome is actually there when we arrive at the hotel. :) |
After you book, can't you check directly with the hotel to make sure your resrv. was recorded?

Teresa, I had the same misgivings as yours when I booked a hotel in Prague this summer. It was one of the best hotels in town, and the price was WAY better than any competitors' price or the hotel website price. That really scared me.
But I did note that unlike the Expedia/Travelocity low prices for this specific hotel, my prepayment was refundable. Our reservation was honored in full. No problems, even though I did not doublecheck with the hotel before we arrived. |
