Has anyone used Frommer's or AAA Road Atlas for France?

HELP!!
Did you find this atlas (AAA or Frommer's) satisfactory when driving in France?
I know that many of you recommend Michellin atlas. Unfortunately, it is out of print. I checked both amazon and bn
We are driving in the end of October from Paris to Bordeaux and then continue to Cahors and Sarlat before returning to Paris
Thanks

The Michelin atlas really is the best one (though we actually prefer the larger scale yellow local maps). The proper name is the Michelin France Tourist and Motoring Atlas, and the ISBN for the spiral bound 6th edition (2002) is 206100234X . I'm sure you can find it at Amazon.

In 1997 and 1999 we used our Michelin issued in 1996. We are planning to use it again next month. It is so detailed with countries and cities that it has been fine. However, we also supplement this with trip tics from one of the web sites. We use to use CDWlease and Euroshell both of which have ceased. Now we are using Maporama which actually allows you to put in addresses of hotels and gives the usual detailed directions.

Of course, when all else fails, there is the stopping to ask for directions which seems to happen at least once per trip! People in Italy, Germany and France have always been helpful.

Hape a great trip!

Try WWW.half.com. They list a 2001 Michelin France Atlas for 29.92. I also recommend Philip's Europe Atlas. Very detailed. Last winter I purchased a used (2001) copy in a bookstore in Amsterdam. The maps available at Aral gas stations are also very good.

Thank you all
Cluny, amazon doesn't has one. It is out of print.
BrimhamRocks, is this company located in UK? I am in the US so all those overseas S&H charges would be too high

MGB, thanks for suggestion. And, like you said, when all else fails we will stop and ask. After all we managed pretty well on our previous driving trips in France, Greece, Sicily and Andalusia too. Maybe we'll see you next month somewhere in Europe and ask for directions

SirGallahad, thanks. I will check half.com

Once you get to France you should be able to find either the Michelin atlas or the Atlas IGN Routier & Touristique in any bookstore, either of which are far superior to Frommer's or the AAA atlas. For the Bordeaux-Sarlat-Cahors part of your trip you might also want to pick up the blue Michelin #239 map, also avaialable at any bookstore or maison de la presse.

The Michelin France Tourist and Motoring Atlas 2003(the '2003' is used on all the UK sites, but on the US sites, apparently it's called '6th edition', in place of using the '2003') can be found on these websites:

There are others, but this should give you a good start.

Wildflower--I bought the Michelin France Tourist and Motoring Atlas (Michelin Tourist and Motoring Atlas: France, 6th Ed (Spiral, Large Format)) from Amazon last week. The amazon site says it is still available, ships in 24 hours and is eligible for free shiping if total order is over $25.
