Has anyone used a Tour Guide in Sicily?

We are looking for a tour guide in Sicily. We will be staying in Ortigia and probably explore it on our own, but we have 2 days where we could venture out to see ??????

I've only found driver guides that drop you off at sites. Apparently they talk about the History and such while driving, but then stay with the vehicle. We're looking for some actual tours, we could rent a car if we needed to to get to the places.

Any suggestions?

I can't suggest any guides -- but are you fully committed to using one? Sicily is easily explored on one's own, whether using a rental car or public transportation.

kja ~ not really committed to having a guide, we just enjoy having someone more knowlegeable than we are to give us local history, and answer questions.

But we leave in a week, and not having much luck!

Hi wrenwood,
I'm Sicilian and I can say you that if you haven't got your own car is not so easy moving in Sicily.
Anyway if you are looking for more informations about Sicily, you can find the most important locations on www.visitsicily.travel
There is also the english version.

Let me know if this site will be usefull for you or you need more details about Sicily.

Guten Nacht (I'm in Germany now :) )
