Has anyone stayed in Fiesole?
Has anyone ever stayed in Fiesole? How far is it from Florence? Have you ever taken the public transportation from Fiesole to the train station in Florence? I have heard it is even walkable. Has anyone ever done that?

Hi. Fiesole is best place to stay you are going to visiting Florence and sleep in a quite-really unforgettable site. From the train station is about 30 minutes by numeber 7. But in about 20 minutes you can reach the city-centre. Many nice hotels are there (also restaurants). Villa Aurora, Villa Bonelli & Villa San Michele , one of the best fives stars Hotel in Italy. But in my opionion, the best over there is Hotel Villa Fiesole: very tasteful, charming, spacious, goof location & value.(www.florence.ala.it/guests/vfiesole). I highy recommend that Hotel, specially in Spring/summer Season !

Thanks Steve the Guide for info. Just one more question -is it difficult to bring luggage on this number 7 bus? I live in Manhattan and I can just imagine getting on a bus in the morning with luggage!!!!

Hi jparis.
I agree on Fiesole beeing a prfect place to stay while in Florence.
I've posted some answers to this some months ago. Search for my name or for Fiesole.
Splendid. And moderately priced, if you choose Pensione Bencista you'll be in heaven. Away from the airpollutioned downtown, and with magnificant views.
We had a rented car. Buses should be no problem. Distance down-town app 5-6 kilometres.
Have a nice stay.
Bjorn
PS Train station to main museums can not be more than 10 minutes walk
Hi Bjorn - thanks for the info - I tried to make reservations for March bank in December at Becista and they were booked, so I will have to catch them the next time around. My concern is that if I am going from Florence to Venice by train. I can keep my car in Fiesole and drive myself to the train station or I can give the car back a day early, save on that and parking, but then I have to get my family and I on to the bus with our luggage. Have you travelled on the bus in the morning? Do you know how often they run? Thanks so much for your help

I'm sorry. We rented a car at the airport (Budget/sixt). Perfect. Could be some parking problems downtown Florence, though. But, if you've got the courage of handling broad cars in slim streets, you'll get along very well. After all, the rentals give you freedom.
Bjorn
