Has anyone stayed here in Derbyshire?

I came across a website www.bolehillfarm.co.uk, and I can't remember if I got the recommendation for this place on fodors, or through my own research.

I would really appreciate if someone knows about this B&B, or has stayed here and can tell me how it was.

We are down to two choices, so I would really appreciate any feedback if anyone has stayed here, or knows about this place

I know the area well but not this particular bb. Personally, I prefer somewhere slightly less rural - I like a pub / restaurant and preferably a shop that I can walk to. Other than that, it looks beautiful and I'm sure it will be. Bakewell is a nice town to be based in, or near. I suggest that you also look at the village of Youlgreave which is near Bakewell. I have stayed in a cottage there (Rose Cottages, very nice).
Another suggestion for Derbyshire is the Plough at Hathersage. This b&b is fantastic. It is a b&b and also a restaurant. It is run by an ex butcher and his wife and is run to perfection. The rooms have lots of little extra touchesand are very comfortable and the restaurant is superb. Bob (the owner) prides himself on fresh food and the breakfasts are a real treat. If you want any more info. e mail me ([email protected]).

Carolina,

Thanks for the offer - do you know how far away Hathersage is from Bakewell? Do they have a website?

We will only be in Derbyshire for 2 nights, and we wanted to stay near Bakewell since our primary reason for going is to see Chatsworth and Lyme Park in Cheshire.

Just checked, they have a website: www.theploughinn_hathersage.co.uk
I suggest you send them an e mail to check distances. I would guess it is probably about 15 mins drive from Chatsworth (maybe less). Not sure about Lyme Park.

Lyme Park is very close to Stockport boundary, between Disley and Hazel Grove but easy to get to by A6 from Bakewell. From Hathersage there is a pretty route through Hope and Castleton up a narrow gorge at Winnats Pass (http://www.rural-roads.co.uk/winnats/winnats1.shtml) to Sparrowpoint, where you join A623 and then A6 just before Chapel-en-le-Frith bypass. From either it's around 40 min drive, though the last few miles can be slow as you are on popular commuter route between Manchester and Derbyshire.
