Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Pomezia in Rome lately? I have a problem with my reservation.

I just e-mailed the Hotel Pomezia to reconfirm my reservation for Nov. 22. I had made the reservation in August for a single room no bath for 40 euros. I just received an e-mail that they're undergoing rennovations and they could give me a room with bath for 50 euros.

I e-mailed him back with all our previous correspondence, referred him to our e-mail of August 21, and told him that I didn't think it was fair that he should charge me more when I was promised a room for 40 euros. (Yes, it now a a bath but I would have look for a cheaper option if I had been offered a 50 euro room to begin with.)

I'm waiting for a response but now I'm thinking of the rennovations and how disruptive that will be. Has anyone stayed at the hotel lately? Luckily I'm going in November so finding a room two weeks before my trip wouldn't be impossible (I hope).

I'm also wondering about other people's experiences with this hotel. I can't help but think their just trying to cheat me.

Vita, type 'Pomezia' into the search-box and you will get a couple of threads that mention and comment the Pomezia. Most don't sound great at all. It looks like a 'stay away place'.

I'd probably try to get a room elsewhere.
Good luck!

I should have mentioned that I already did a search. I'm actually looking for more recent and specific info about the renovations and whether anyone has had problems with the hotel such as extra charges after an agreed upon rate. Thanks anyway though.

I suppose that it would be honorable of him to offer you the room at the rate of 40 Euros; nevertheless, you should recognize that the rate of 50 Euros with bath is excellent (I doubt you'll find anyone to match it), particularly in view of the hotel's fantastic location. I imagine that the hotel is being upgraded to keep up with others in the immediate vicinity.

gac, I can appreciate that it would still be a good rate. I think the tactic concerns me more than anything else. They never notified me that the room was no longer available. If I hadn't e-mailed, I would never have known until I got there.

I agree with you, although I'm not surprised in the least.

I haven't stayed there recently, but I stayed there a few years ago in one of those bathless, non-renovated rooms, and it was a total dump! I'm a budget traveler, and quite used to two-star places with shared baths, but the Pomezia was truly disgusting. I've posted some of the details before.

Sorry, Vita, I just realized that you had seen the old threads so you probably had seen my comments. All I can add at this time, is that we called one of the owners (they are two twins, or at least those were the owners at the time) "the Evil Twin" for his consistently rude and hostile attitude toward everyone. And, yes, I do speak Italian so that wasn't the problem. I wouldn't expect much in the way of customer service there!

Vita, I know nothing about the hotel but if this is your initial impression that the hotel is cheating you, I would avoid it.
You don't need aggravation on a pleasure trip, and it looks like that is what you may have from this hotel.
