Has Anyone Stayed at Dryburgh Abbey Hotel
I will be traveling to the Borders in August, and I am looking for a hotel with some manor house character. Has anyone stayed at Dryburgh Abbey Hotel? It looks lovely, but it's a pretty strong price and I'd like to have the benefit of others' experience.

I have not stayed there but have eaten there and walked through the grounds a few times. Have no idea what the rooms are like but I suspect they are very nice. The setting is wonderful.
Another place you might want to consider is Traquair House - |
Hi Janisj,
I have also sent an enquiry to Traquair, and am waiting to hear if they have availability - thanks for the confirming vote! My greatest worry is finding accommodations in Edinburgh as the festival is on and many places are well booked. |
Edinburgh is indeed a special case in August. The festivals, the Tattoo and just normal August vacations bring in thousands of visitors.

Traquair came through, and they have been wonderful to deal with. The house looks lovely, and my children are very excited about the maze behind the house.
Thanks for the suggestion Janisj! |
You will LOVE Traquair House. The history, the location, the brewery, the rooms, the grounds, the hosts. I have not actually stayed there but have visited many times and seen the B&B rooms. Almost sacrilege to call it B&B.
It will be much more memorable than the Drybugh Abbey hotel. The hotel is fine but similar to scores of other country hotels. Traquair is one of a kind . . . . |
