Has anyone spent Christmas Day in a Spanish Hotel?

We will be in the parador at Bielsa. What should we expect?

Oh, you should expect a BIG dinner on Christmas Eve and a BIG lunch on Christmas Day :) Traditionally, we celebrate more Christmas Eve but we also make a special lunch on Christmas. Try to make a reservation at the Parador restaurant for both. It is very easy that you find the restaurants closed these two days.

Thank you for that. Is it likely that the dinner on Christmas Eve will allow me time to go to midnight mass?

Sure, Christmas Eve dinner begins a little earlier than usual here in Spain in order to allow for that , if people wishes to go (also because the dinner is bigger :) )

Sheila, it will depend on the time of the Mass.

Maybe you could contact the Tourism Office and find out ... Their phone number :

I have also found this email address for the town council : [email protected]

That's very kind. I'm still tracking down information. I think we have time to check after we get there on the 22nd.

Sheila, I am thinking about this. I have been a couple of times (hiking) in the area, and the parador is not located right in town. You get to Bielsa and then you drive up towards the National Park where the Parador is located.

So, if you want to go to Mass after dinner, and Mass is held at midnight or so, depending on the metereological conditions, it won´t be so nice to drive up to the Parador. I know you are coming from Scotland, but I am thinking about ice in the road surface at 1 am ...

Check with the people at the Parador, they will know what to do.

Thank you for the warning. We can drive on ice or snow, but might choose not to. And there may have been drink taken:)

We have a couple of days to suss out the lie of the land.
