Has anyone hired a private driver in Rome?

I've been told if you don't feel like dealing with driving for your Rome day trips, that hiring a private driver is a relaxing way to go. Has anyone done this and had good luck with it? And referrals for a certain company or driver? Thanks.

Yes we hired a private driver on several occasions. Not only did we do extended city tours, we also did Pompeii and the Amalfi coast.

We can highly recommend http://www.driverinrome.com .

I can highly recommend Stefano of Rome Cabs. I used him on a trip with my mother and sister (mainly due to mom's mobility issues) for not only airport transfers, but also around the city, a day trip into the countryside, and a night tour. He was fantastic.

It never ceases to amaze me that i can type in a little question one day, and by the next day "the universe" has answered my call. Thank you. I am printing all this info up and will check into them. I'm excited!! Thanks again.
