If they swiped two cards, I would wonder if that impacts (lowers) the amount that you can subsequently charge on those cards. I seem to remember that sometimes happens. Not a problem, just something to ask about.

BLOODY GOOD POST - would anybody else be interested.

I had a crazy idea some years back when we considered moving to Pienza. Wanted to rent out classic Mercedes, Porsches and Alfas to tourists. Wifey stuffed the idea - she like the rain in Britain to much -if I get enough interest could possibly re-light her fire?!?

Markrosy, I wish you'd started that business! I'd like to open a Starbucks right next door.

Big Red--Thanks for the tip about lowering the credit available on the cards if they're swiped by the car rental place. There's always some new challenge when dealing with money there!

We still haven't located the perfect car. Sort of in a stalemate, especially since we're dealing with the Marriott points. It seems that they only want to give us the basic car: no other option (which sounds crazy to me).

Has anyone dealt with these Marriott points/car rental with Hertz? Any tips navigating this maze would be greatly appreciated~

Cyber....We had asked for a gasoline automatic and had booked a 4 door sedan. They didn't have anything but a Mercedes and gave us that. That was in France. The Peugot was in Italy which was picked up in France also. Dumb luck I guess. My neice has a Pony (?) I don't know what that was but a small SUV type of thing, it had plenty of room. I would talk to AutoEurope on the phone. They are very acommadating. We wanted a car that would cruise the A-1 with some zip! Parking was a drag in the small towns so that IS a criteria.
