Has anyone golfed in Tuscany?
DH and I are going to Italy in the fall. He'd like to golf. Has anyone played in/around Tuscany? Have you heard about anyone who has? We can't find any course feedback from people who have played. We're not expecting Pebble Beach or anything, but a nice course would be nice.

I googled 'golf in Tuscany' and this came up. Sorry, I can't give you a personal recommendation but if you find good courses, I know my SO will be interested.

Sometimes you can find reviews by using the club name and googling for reviews. |

http://www.golftoday.co.uk/clubhouse...ana/index.html with liks to individual club websites. Most courses require a handicap certificate. Green fee range from around 60 to 80 euro/round in high season. You can often reserve tee time online, in English. |
Thanks. Those websites should be helpful.
goddess - I'll let you know! There is a course designed by Arnold Palmer and a Four Seasons affiliated course. No idea about them, though. Yeah, 60 euro, plus the range and practice ball fee plus a cart.... just make it 120 - 150 and include all the extras. They really want a handicap card? DH shot a 74 on the red course at Bethpage (MUCH easier than the Black sourse) this morning, but he doesn't have a handicap card. He never needs one. Courses in the US just want your money - they don't care if you shoot 120. |
With the disclaimer that I know nothing about golf, personally, I know for sure that there are some more accessible (ie less expensive and exclusive) golf clubs in Tuscany.
I searched "golf" on the region's official website http://turismo.intoscana.it and it gave me various hits, take a look and see if any of that information is useful and please let us know how it goes! |
I have played many times at Ugolino - http://www.golfugolino.it/nuovo/eng/home.asp
My handicap was 8 and I never had to prove my handicap. It's just one of those things - a good secretary will spot a duffer a mile off. Have fun but expect the course to be up and down. A jolly good walk in a wonderful scenic location. |
