has anyone ever showered in london?!?

hi
ok, that was a trick question.

i will be in transit arriving into heathrow terminal 1 and departing out of terminal 4. is one terminal newer than the others? does anyone know which one has the larger showers?

will either take a credit or debit card or do i have to change money?

i would prefer the terminal with the shower "inside" security if that's an option.

thanks heaps!
kerikeri :)

From the BAA website
Showers
Showers are available in the following locations:

Terminal 1 and 2: The Flight connection Centre (FCC) has shower facilities in its Comfort and Care Level - Passenger Lounge. This is located after security.

Terminal 3 - departure lounge - these facilities are currently unavailable due to development works.

Terminal 4 - available in the toilet areas on the arrivals level, before security. Further facilities are available after security control.

I don't have the exact details you seek, but I have taken a shower at Heathrow. It was in Terminal 1, at the beginning where 1 & 2 branch off from each other. The cost was 6GBP and included soap and towel. I paid cash.

To add to suze's directions;
The showers are right across from the glassed-in smoking room which is right where T1 and T2 meet (opens @ 0600).
So look (or smell) for that glass cage where us smokers are puffing-up a storm :).

There is a 'Currency Exchange Machine' just to the left of the shower entrance if you need one.

i hope you're not suggesting the smell is coming from the showers!

(it will be coming from me, in fact).

thank you all. i was having trouble with BAA's expression "after" security. when you are disemabarking, as a shower taker would be, "afetr" security seems to mean "out in public after you leave the secured area" and that lead to my post.

it sounds as though they are saying "after one passes through security..."

okay i was in england exactly 20 years ago. maybe i can find 6 pounds lying around!

thanks all!

I take a small amount of cash from an ATM at Heathrow (like 20-40 dollars worth) which lasts me for several trips thru the airport (since I am not staying in Great Britain).

kerikeri: No, it would be from the cigarettes :).

It's a room in the hallway you'd pass by, there are large air purifiers and plexiglass walls. But the plexiglass is only ~3m high so the top is open and the entrance is also open.

A non-smoker would probably smell the smoke well before passing this room.

Of course to us smokers, this room is our heavenly oasis in a desert of clean air :).

I took your trick question the other way. When I worked in NL there were a lot of UK people in the office. Some of them were rancid. Maybe they showered on Saturday. Maybe the first of the month. Phew.
