Has anyone eaten at les Granges Hautes?
The owners asked if we wanted to book a Table d'Hote. Since we will be arriving late afternoon it might be a good idea. Has anyone tried this?
Thanks |
Hi c,
>Has anyone tried this? Not at LGH. However, we usually make dinner reservations at the hotel if we are arriving in the late PM. Have you looked up LGH in the "search this forum" box? ((I)) |
YES! It was such a wonderful experience! The outdoor setting could not have been more perfect, and the meal was delightful. The entree was very good (this was two years ago, I don't remember exactly what it was), but the DESSERT was sensational. At the time, Jean-Yves was the cook while Beatrice did the baking-- and her baking was definitely some of the best I've ever had. They brought out some wonderful liqueurs and wine, too. And the price was very modest for all that, too. So definitely do it. It was worth far more than they charged, and the atmosphere was all the more special.

Thanks for the encouraging reply Progol!I was thinking of trying out La Meynardie which should be close by but I'm afraid we may get in too late. Now all we need to do is find out if they have a TV since we'll be arriving the night of the soccer semi-finals!

Hold the Meynardie for a night when you have time to appreciate it. Definitely not the night you arrive, when you will probably be tired. Especially if you want to watch the world cup!

Unfortunately there are world cup games on 4 of our 6 nights in the area. It is so annoying! I'll have to wait and see who gets to the finals so I can book my restaurants!Seriously though if La Meynardie is really worth it that's the only night we can go so i'll have to try my best to get to GH early. We're very used to driving so shouldn't be too tired. never too tired for good food in a nice place!

I will be there the latter part of Sept., arriving on a Sunday. I will be driving up from Llo..a leisurely drive, as you can't check in til 5. I am meeting some French friends who will be driving from Normandy.
We will be making reservations at La Maynardie for that evening. |
