Has anyone driven Germany's Fairy Tale Road?

We will be in Germany in June and plan to drive from Munich to Nuremberg, then on to the Fairy Tale Road. We would like input on what to see, where to stay in the Fairy Tale Road area. Right now we are thinking about staying 2 nights in Marberg, 3 nights in Celle and 2 nights in Bremen, taking day trips from these towns. What are must-see, must-do things in the area within the time frame we have (7 nights)? Thanks.

The only town we've visited on the Fairy Tale Road is Alsfeld, which is totally charming. We spent a few hours walking around and wished we'd been able to spend more time there.

Here are some photos from our 2009 trip if you are interested:

The Fairy Tale Road is quite long, but the most interesting part is between Alsfeld and Hameln (Hamelin).

The highlights would be Alsfeld, Melsungen, Hann.Münden, Bad Karlshafen, Hämelschenburg castle, and, of course, Hameln.

Marburg is definetly worth a visit, but a bigger town than the other small towns.
I don't know if I wanted to stay 3 nights in Celle. In general, this is more like a road trip, and you don't have to navigate big cities, so you could actually go from town to town and sleep in a different place every night.

On your way, you can sleep in a "fairy tale castle", the Sababurg near Bad Karlshafen:

Another one near Hameln:

Or stay in a half-timber house hotel in Hamelin

Celle is not on the Fairy Tale Road, but sure worth a visit (as nearby Lüneburg).

Oh, we also stayed in Hann. Muenden on the same trip. It was a huge surprise as we didn't know much about it. Absolutely lovely little town. There are numerous photos in the same album referenced above.

We would definitely go back to Hann. Muenden and Alsfeld again. We hope to visit Hameln and Wolfenbuettel next time as well.

One of the trip reports at www.bensbauernhof.com details the fairy tale road. it's titled 'the great europe trip of 2007'
