Has anyone been to the Monte Sacro of Varallo ?
I was watching a TV programme about Caravaggio last night and it speculated that he was influenced by the very lifelike Biblical tableaux here. Having seen a few shots of the grottos, and now googled it, it looks astonishing. Has anyone here been or know much about it ?

Hi yk ! It had been in the recording mountain for a while. I think it was a 'Private Life of an Easter Masterpiece', it was about 'The Taking of Christ' and was presented by Tim Marlow. Ah yes, here we are - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00jz78p
From what I saw I did think the figures in the tableaux looked very Caravaggio-like (Caravaggiesque ?).
Here's a site I found with photos - http://travel.webshots.com/album/550367977gQFYFN
Looks interesting, doesn't it ?
