Harry Potter in Paris

Does anyone know if the english language bookstores in Paris have a midnight party for the arrival of the new Harry Potter book? Here they all stay open so you can get your book at midnight on the first day of sale. Thanks!

I don't know of any bookstores that will be selling them in English (although there probably is one)...but I do know when I was in Turkey in 2003, on a bus ride to Istanbul I saw a tweenage girl reading Harry Potter in Turkish.

Like Starbucks and McDonalds, he is EVERYWHERE. ;)

Probably WH Smith on rue de Rivoli in central Paris - the largest English language booksore in the capital. In the past they have staged late night (1am Paris = midnight UK) openings for Harry Potter releases.

Don't know about bookstores, but if you're a Harry Potter fan and you're in Paris, check out Auberge Nicolas Flamel on rue Montmorency in the 3eme (not far from the Pompidou Center).

Not only was it the home of the philosopher/alchemist of HP and the Philosophers/Sorcerers Stone, but it's a quite decent and atmospheric restaurant in its own right.

Elle, I was just going to suggest that!

Although Shakespeare & Co. sells English-language books they seem unlikely to do a party for the new Harry Potter release. I agree with Nimord that WH Smith is the most likely place. I'd contact them to find out. Here's the website:

Sorry, Nimrod for misspelling your name. :)

Why doesn't that surprise me? ;).
